Buenos Aires, November 19 (NA) -- Racing Club's midfielder Santiago Sosa has been medically cleared. He trained with the first team and will aim to be available for the next Monday's match against River Plate in the round of 16 of the 2025 Clausura Tournament.
After suffering an unfortunate fracture caused by his teammate Marcos Rojo, the 26-year-old footballer was successfully operated on. Following a medical review, he has now resumed training normally.
Although he still needs final clearance to play minutes, the midfielder born in La Plata will do everything possible to participate in the crucial match against the Millonarios and compete for the title in the local championship, which would qualify the 'albiceleste' team for the Copa Libertadores.
Since Sosa's injury, the main replacements have been Bruno Zuculini and Alan Forneris. Therefore, if the midfielder does not make it to the match against Marcelo Gallardo's team, one of them will likely be his substitute.
According to the Argentine News Agency, Agustín Almendra is another doubt, and head coach Gustavo Costas will wait until the last moment to see if he can count on him.
On the contrary, Juan Ignacio Nardoni, Nazareno Colombo, and Adrián Balboa would be available to play.
